day 600 | april 9, 2012 | Koh Samui

a purely personal post where i'm not blogging about the kids or my client shoots. grin. a clean one-task-only break after a long while was a dream -- and the companion definitely makes the destination for me. it was the perfect mix of work and chill-out especially because of lady L and our fabulously fun clients.
with the backdrop of dramatic sky every sunset (and i mean every single one!), samui is an amazing place to shoot and as well as get lost in your thoughts.

we stayed at lipa bay resort which is a more budget-conscious option just a shimmy away from serene baan suriya and hip nikki beach resort.

Mimosa brunch at Nikki Beach, Spot the jazzy trumpeteer
always tickled when clients and friends share shots of me in action, and A+K's friend Chris took these images while we were shooting playful portraits around the beach. here are some behind-the-scenes as well as resulting shots.
thanks for this shot, chris!
fully soaked. thanks for this shot, chris!
once the shoots were done, this is what L and I chilled out to.
the view from our room
hit the adventure trail on our sole free day by signing up for an angthong marine reserve park tour. it reminded me a lot of palawan, and i felt the pull again to go home and explore more of our own (and share them with the little ones). the conservation culture in thailand is strong and i hope it remains that way.
this is us pretending we didn't care that we were getting left behind. (too busy snapping!)
every time we stopped to take a break and just breathe in the surroundings, there's a stunning vista waiting for us to rest our eyes on.
my lovely travel companion!
as our finale for the trip, we had breakfast at the library, a design hotel which we were both curious to see.
bold red pool. it's hidden away, but there was a couple making out in the corner. grin.
our only shot together, thanks to the waiter at the library.
love the "reader" statues they had positioned all over the place...
and of course, we couldn't leave thailand without indulging in some sweet mangoes and sticky rice.
definitely the trip (and the friend) that made me smile all april long. :)
